Both the used store I purchsed the phone from and when I checked myself show that checkesnfree says the phone is clear, but when I attempt to activate the phone on my account, the Sprint CSRs (and I've spoken with CSRs, tech support, managers, etc) say the phone is still attached to another account and won't release it to be activated on my account.

Here's from your site:

Sprint
268435460211186638
The ESN/MEID you entered is clear for activation.

Is there any way for Sprint to override the attached to another account flag?
I just checked with Sprint and they are telling me that the ESN you provided (268435460211186638) is not in their system as being a Sprint phone.

Remember, Sprint requires all of their MVNOs to register ESNs in their database, so make sure it's actually a Sprint phone, and not from iWireless (Kroger) or another of Sprint's small MVNOs.

Also note, some of the smaller MVNOs will use Sprint branded phones.

Can you get me some more information regarding the device?

I just got off the phone with a manager for account services with sprint that insists the phone was from a canceled account that has a past due balance and so it is associated with that account and can't be activated on my account until that balance is zero.

The phone is a Samsung Conquer. I purchased it from a used cell phone store in Aurora, CO that because checkesnfree shows it is clear and because sprint told them it was clear refuses to do anything to help me resolve the situation.

I have already sent the phone back to Samsung to have it reflashed to sprint and the factory settings since it was a sprint phone initially.

What else would you like to know and what else can you do to assist?
Are you 100% sure the ESN is 268435460211186638 ???

I asked a friend of mine on Sprint to attempt to do a device change on his Sprint account online and it says the following...

"Hmmm. This number doesn't match our records. Please try again. Hint: Remember to include any zeros."
100% sure. I am looking at it right now. That under the battery matches the digital number found in About/Status.
Hmm, this has me stumped.

I wonder if it's possible the ESN was allowed to be activated on someone such as Zapp Unlimited, or PlatinumTel. They allow activating a large amount of Sprint phones, but Sprint has to approve it first, and I don't know if that does something on Sprint's database or what.

I'll look and see if I can get anymore info.
Please post a picture of the ESN/MEID on the phone.

Picture attached. Same thing is printed under the battery.

Also, the Sprint techs I spoke to a month or so ago said it appeared that the phone had been flashed for another network, but it could be flashed back to Sprint. The Sprint repair center couldn't reflash it to Sprint, but suggested I contact Samsung directly; which I did. I sent the phone to Samsung and they reflashed it and updated the PRL. I just got it back from Samsung today and tried again to activate it only to be told it was still active on another account.
Ok, so I was on the phone with Sprint this morning and I think we've figured it out.

The rep believes that the phone was used in an insurance case and that the insurance company, possibly Asurion might have had the ESN deactivated.

Now, I don't know if that's true, or if that's even possible, but the rep said that was most likely the case, and since he felt that was the case, that is why the system doesn't give them a make/model on the ESN when entering it to verify it. He said it shows it WAS tied to an account but that it is not on any accounts as of now and that it will likely never be usable on Sprint again.

Sorry, but that's all I can get regarding that ESN.

I just got off the phone with Asurion. Everything they do is based on the phone number and they couldn't look anything up by the ESN.

So now it would seem that again, Sprint's left hand doesn't know what the right hand it doing.... seems that any time you talk to so done there it's a different story. The most frustrating thing is that the ESN still shows clear and now I have a beautiful, expensive paperweight.
