hi! if i have a phone with a bad esn # from verizon can i use a good SIM card to actavate a phone on staright talk?

What phone? If it's a dual mode phone that accepts SIM cards and is unlocked, should work fine.

it would be an iphone 4 that takes a mini SIM. dont think dual mode. how would i find this out? are you meaning it has dual SIM slots?

If it's a Verizon 4S, you can use it on Straight Talk's BYOD plan with their SIM card, but only if the phone is unlocked. However you wouldn't have 3g or 4g data.

It would be easier to trade it for an AT&T branded iPhone... and last I checked they only had T-Mobile SIMs so you wouldn't be on the native AT&T network.
